KARACHI: The extension in the deadline for filing tax returns has not helped much as the Integrated Risk Information System (IRIS) is still not operating all of its options.
The corporate taxpayers had filed applications for extension of time for filing returns and statements for the tax year 2015.
Subsequently, Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) extended time for filing such returns and statements till January 21, 2016.
Muhammad Zubair, President Karachi Tax Bar Association (KTBA) said majority of corporate taxpayers had filed their returns and statements.
“However, there is a reasonable segment of the corporate taxpayers, who owing to various reasons, are still enable to e-file their returns and statements. The IRIS does not accept such applications for extension of filing time as the window for this purpose is not operative,” Zubair said.
KTBA has approached Member IR Policy Rehmatullah Wazir requesting immediate solution of the issue so that the corporate taxpayers should be able to file their applications for extension of time for filing the returns and statements for the tax year 2015.
