KARACHI: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has notified suspension for a period of three months of Appraiser Sher Khan of MCC Appraisement West.

The FBR’s notice comes quite confusing because Sher Khan was transferred to MCC Port Qasim in October 2015.

The story behind the scene is a couple of days ago Chief Collector Abdul Rasheed Shaikh issued a circular suggesting that the Investigation Officers of cases being pursued by Collectorates would continue to remain the Investigation Officers being pursued by them.

Sher Khan had been pursuing 5 cases including the cases of Mohammad Ali Chandna. In October on his transfer, Sher Khan handed over all the files and charge. MCC Port Qasim is at a distance of 55 KM from MCC Appraisement West and it is practically impossible to travel this much distance on and off.

As Sher Khan could not come to MCC Appraisement West for pursuing the cases, FBR notified his suspension.

In a similar case, one IO of Transit Trade Adnan Malik was transferred, the Judge of Customs Court then asked the distance of his transferred post. When he was told the new office was in the same building, Judge ruled that if the new office was in the same building, the IO should not be changed.
