KARACHI: Justice Muhammad Shafi Siddiqui of High Court of Sindh (SHC) on Friday ordered release of Generators that run on gas if the importer submit bank guarantee pending issues of customs duty.
HANTEX, a local textile company imported a consignment of gas generators for use and claimed exemption from Customs duty and other levies under SRO 575 0f 2006.
The Customs however refused the concession claimed and raised demand for payment of custom duty while detaining the consignment of generators at which the instant suit was filed by the plaintiff.
Today the SHC bench after hearing the sides ordered immediate release of the consignment of generators if plaintiff submit bank guarantee with the Nazir of SHC.
The bench later put off final hearing for April 26.
