KARACHI: A divisional bench of High Court of Sindh (SHC) while holding contempt of court proceedings in a case of import of cellular phones, ordered Pakistan Customs, Valuation to release the consignment of importer Rahim Mirani for a company based at Lahore.
The bench comprising Chief Justice Sajjad Ali Shah and Justice Mahmood A Khan on Wednesday also directed the importer to submit the differential amount of value with the Nazir of the SHC.
The bench also ordered to continue with the contempt proceedings against respondent officials of Pakistan Customs.
Ismat Mehdi advocate represented the petitioner while Customs was represented by Kashif Nazeer advocate.
According to details the petitioner imported a consignment of Q mobile phones and filed a GD. The consignment was released but suddenly Anti Smuggling Organization (ASO) came into action, seized and took away the consignment without informing the Valuation department.The bench during the course of hearing ordered release of the consignment but it was not released on one pretext or the other at which the petitioner filed an application for contempt of court which is now pending decision
