KARACHI: The web based customs clearing system (WeBOC) on Tuesday has started malfunctioning again restricting access of importers and clearing agents suspending cargo clearance throughout the country.
The system shutdown on Monday and it was restored on Tuesday morning, but in the mid-day, the system malfunctioned again.
The importers and clearing agents cannot access the system. However, the Customs staff can access the system, but the system is misbehaving and operating very slow. It may be mentioned here that this is the consecutive second day that the system has developed problems.
Sources said that the issue was nothing but the mis-management on the part of PRAL. It was learnt that there was absolutely no coordination between the Networking division and Operations divisions of PRAL.
These frequent problems with the automated system has badly affected the workings of Pakistan Customs while consignments are pilling up on the ports and dry ports throughout the country.
