KARACHI: A constitutional petition filed by seven importers including Horizon international is likely to be heard by a division bench of High Court of Sindh (SHC) on Wednesday as the importers filed an application for an urgent hearing seeking orders for provisional release of consignments.

Ghulamullah Shaikh advocate is appearing for the petitioner on behalf of Franklin Law Associates. The petitioners imported fabric of Chinese origin from Dubai and submitted relevant documents showing the consignment to be from China.

The Custom officials are delaying the release of the consignment on suspicion that it could be of Indian origin which is banned under the law.

The matter was fixed for hearing before the Customs Appellate bench of SHC but was discharged due to paucity of time after which the petitioner filed an application for urgent hearing. An appellate bench has already restrained the customs from any action against the petitioners till decision of the petition.
